Heat and Cool – weld free technologies giving you the moulding advantage.

Heat and Cool (H&C) offers many advantages over standard injection moulding and gas injection moulding.

• Better flow and flow length extension - enabling longer parts and thinner wall sections to be moulded

• Weld line free and no sink marks - overcoming major moulding defects
• Superior surface finish by increased transferability of grains, giving high gloss parts and reducing coating costs.  Especially applicable for glass filled materials and foamed parts

• Better recycling (if no coating has been applied)

The process

H&C is a process which removes weld lines by heating the surface of the mould tool prior to resin injection. The mould is then rapidly cooled to allow the resin to set. The mould surface is heated by an induction coil or by passing steam through mould tool cooling channels. Moulds with conformal cooling channels offer the greatest advantages.
Alternative methods of heating the mould surface are available including (amongst others) heating elements formed and inserted under the mould surface.
